CAROLINA @ WASHINGTON | 10/14 | 1:00 PM EDT
The Washington Redskins are on top of the NFC East, and they have a lot of inspiration getting in Sunday’s game against the checking out Carolina Panthers.
Never ever mind the reality that the Panthers (3-1) have won 2 straight and own a much better record than the Redskins (2-2). Washington is seeking to eliminate the odor of a nationally telecasted mauling on Monday night– a 43-19 drubbing by Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints.
” That was an absolute embarrassment,” Redskins head coach Jay Gruden told reporters after viewing his team fall under an early 20-point deficit coming off its bye week. “Our entire team played badly. That’s a reflection of myself.
” Everybody because locker room, hopefully, will say that they need to play much better. I absolutely understand that the coaches on this personnel have to coach better. That is one method we can look at it. Looking forward, we have Carolina being available in. We are 2-2. There is a brilliant outlook. We are still right there and will continue to be.”
Quarterback Alex Smith had a rough game Monday, his worst given that signing up with Washington. He is missing broad receiver Josh Doctson (heel), Paul Richardson (shoulder) is playing through enormous discomfort and Jamison Crowder (ankle) has handled various unpleasant injuries considering that training school and would not have actually gotten involved had Wednesday’s walk-through been a real practice.
Obtained in a trade with Kansas City to change Kirk Cousins, Smith failed to toss a goal pass for the second time in four games, but declined to point to the injuries as a reason.
PICK *OVER 44.5
The Over has hit in the last three Carolina games as well as the last two Washington contests. In the Panthers’ case, none of the games have even been close, and they’ve all been in the lower 40s. My projections show another score that totals in the 50s. Expect the trends to continue and take the Over.
